Mauricio Pochettino is confident about knockout qualification after victory over Inter Milan

Tottenham Hotspur registered a hard fought 1-0 victory over Inter Milan at Wembley Stadium to keep alive their Champions League 2018/19 campaign. Christian Eriksen once again scored the crucial goal to keep alive Spurs in the tournament. Now, it’s all in Tottenham hands if they want to qualify for the next stage and Mauricio Pochettino is confident about knockout qualification after victory over Inter Milan.

Group B and Group C are the toughest group this season. it wasn’t only the prediction, but it also becomes reality as both groups have still to find their knockout qualified teams as battle goes into match day six. Whereas Napoli, PSG, and Liverpool is battling for group C berths, in group B Barcelona leads but Inter Milan and Tottenham Hotspur will have to fight till end for one berth left from the group.

Inter Milan will fancy their chances against PSV Eindhoven, but Tottenham Hotspur will have to give their best to overcome Barcelona at their home. However, Spurs boss is confident that they can beat Lionel Messi’s Barcelona.

Mauricio Pochettino said as Spurs official website reports, “We are alive and it was such an important performance. I’m very happy. Like I always tell you, I’m very pleased for the players and our fans.”

“We were very patient. We managed the tempo. We always try to play respecting our philosophy and that’s so important. We scored, we deserved the victory and now we’ll be humble, try to rest and recover from the effort and prepare for another big game against Arsenal (on Sunday).”

He adds talking about final showdown against Barcelona. He told, “That’s what we wanted. Now we have it in our own hands to go through to the next stage. Of course, Barcelona have qualified but we are going to try. I love to play this type of game. We are in football because of that – that is the adrenaline we love to feel.”

“All is possible in football. We have big respect for Barcelona. They are one of the best teams in Europe and have unbelievable players. It will be so tough. But one thing we have is belief and faith that we can win.”

On the other hand, Barcelona will try to finish the group stage on high. They are already at top with 13 points, but they’d like to finish the group with 16 points. Lionel Messi inspired Barcelona see off PSV Eindhoven 2-1 at their home ground. Messi scored a brilliant goal and then set up Gerard Pique in an unorthodox fashion from his free-kick to win the match for Barcelona.
