Gareth Bale ends Liverpool crazy run to Champions League final 2017/18

Liverpool had enjoyed many successes with former Welshman Ian Rush, but unfortunately the current era great Welshman plays for a different club. Gareth Bale is the man who did as much damage to Liverpool that Ian Rush in his days has brought glory for the Reds. Bale ends Liverpool crazy run to Champions League final with his double after coming on as a substitute for Isco Alarcon and handed Real Madrid their third successive UEFA Champions League trophy.

Real Madrid won the final 3-1 with goals from Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale. Liverpool no.1 hasn’t had a great night with the gloves and his disastrous mistake opened the scoring for Real Madrid. Karius tries to roll the ball for his defender but Benzema tries to put a foot in and he succeeded. The ball roll into Liverpool goal post and Real Madrid lead 1-0.

James Milner rises on the occasion with his experience. He put in a great cross from right corner which helped Sadio Mane to level the game for Liverpool quickly, but it wasn’t enough. Zinedine Zidane played his cards from the bench handing Gareth Bale a run in place of Isco.

The Welshman took everything away from Liverpool with his quick move. Marcelo wasn’t involved much in forward play as long as Salah was on the pitch but his departure allowed him to move forward. The Brazilian left-back cross came with pinpoint accuracy for Gareth Bale to try the athleticism with an overhead kick and he duly converted. The ball was in Liverpool’s net and Real Madrid lead 2-1.

There was enough time for Liverpool to come back in the game but Karius another blunder took the game away from him. Bale tried a splendid strike from 30 yards out, but Karius fumble to collect the ball and it goes into the back-post. Real Madrid become the Uefa Champions League winner for the 13th time with a third successive victory.

The expected script was different for Liverpool fans. They wanted their best player Mohamed Salah to play for the full 90 minutes, but Egyptian was out injured after 30 minutes. Sergio Ramos made the most of his experience manhandled Salah and in the result Liverpool no.11 left the field with the shoulder injury.

Adam Lallana was his replacement but he was lacking the match practice to play in Champions League final after a prolonged injury. Mane was their best player after Salah departure but Liverpool front three were lacking the fluidity. He often finds himself alone in the box and Liverpool failed to cause a problem to Real Madrid defence.

If it would have been any other day, Liverpool would have matched Real Madrid. But it was one of the days when Real Madrid don’t play better football, only their rival allow them to the summit. Congratulations to Real Madrid for their 13th Uefa Champions League title and third in a row.
