Bayern Munich vs Sevilla: All is not lost for the Andalusians

Bayern Munich vs Sevilla, Bavarians, Andalusians, Uefa Champions League

Sevilla were underdogs in the tie and rightly so first leg results suggest. Bayern Munich lead 2-1 from the first-leg result played at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium in Seville. An away win with 2-1 advantage always gives you a relief knowing your opponent will have to at least score twice in their away game, but all is not lost for the Andalusians.

Spanish side must believe in themselves. They have to leave behind their poor result at the weekend. They lost 4- against Iago Aspas inspired Celta Vigo side but a league result doesn’t help much on the European nights. It was one off night; they played a good game against Bayern in first-leg. If Jesus Navas let off hasn’t resulted in an own goal, Andalusians have little to worry.

However, it’s a difficult task against the mighty Bavarians. They are unbeaten at Allianz Arena in Munich in all competition this season. And their last two games result at home gives a devastating figure for the traveling opponent. Bayern won 6-0 in their last two home games against Hamburg and Dortmund, and Robert Lewandowski their lethal striker scored hat-tricks in both of those games. it gives little room for traveling Sevilla to outsmart the Bavarians at their home, but they’ll have to try their luck.

They have the second best striker in Uefa Champions League this season to boast of in Wissam Ben Yedder. Yedder has eight goals to his name and he’ll be a threat up front for Bayern. Ever Banega will return after serving his suspension which is always a plus in midfield.

Bayern Munich is a great team and they are playing their 7th consecutive Uefa Champions League quarterfinals, but it doesn’t mean they can’t be beaten. Every record comes to an end one day, and a newcomer marks his arrival. Sevilla made their way to quarterfinal after defeating Manchester United 2-1 in their away fixture in last 16. They must not forget they have already eliminated a great team to reach to quarters and Bayern is just another opponent.

Andalusians have nothing to lose in the game and the scoreline gives little advantage to Bayern in terms of other quarterfinals game. Liverpool leads 3-0, Barcelona leads 4-1, and Real Madrid leads 3-0 from away game. Sevilla need little luck and it will be on their side knowing their bad luck has already played its role in their 4-0 loss to Celta Vigo.

Bavarians have great names in their team. James Rodriguez has been a revolution since his loan move from Real Madrid. The Colombian playmaker has scored six goals and assisted 12 in all competition. Sevilla need to minimize his influence in the game alongside Thiago Alcantara. It will cut the supply line of Thomas Muller and Robert Lewandowski. Then, we’ll see a good game and hopefully, All is not lost for the Andalusians…
