Barcelona Vs PSV Eindhoven: Catalans shouldn’t take Dutch champion lightly
PSV have already been rule out to not to progress to the last 16 stage, but it’s only a perception and ground reality is completely different.
Everyone believes that Dutch champion PSV Eindhoven is the weakest team in UEFA Champions League group B. They have already been rule out to not to progress to the last 16 stage against the heavyweights of Barcelona, Tottenham Hotspur, and Inter Milan. But, it’s only a perception and ground reality is completely different. Catalans shouldn’t take Dutch champions lightly when they will host them at Camp Nou on Tuesday night.
PSV Eindhoven is 24 time Eredivisie (Dutch) champion, and they are the best Dutch side of 21st century. Whereas Dutch record champion Ajax have won only six Dutch titles in 21st century, Eindhoven have won nine.
PSV have scored 21 goals in their 5 Eredivisie games compared to Barcelona 14 in La Liga
Eindhoven also have the youngest squad in their Champions League group with an average age of 23 years and 4 months. They are the most in-form side in their domestic league scoring 21 goals in 5 games, all resulting victory in their favour.
At #PSV these two Mexicans, Lozano & Gutierrez were re-united today vs ADO The Hague, for a 0-7 win.
The first five minutes was good for a dream-assist> goal 0-4 & a stunning goal for 0-5.

Former Barcelona midfielder Mark Van Bommel side has also practiced well to face Barcelona humiliating ADO Den Haag 7-0. However, Barcelona also goes for 8-2 hammering of promoted side Huesca before going on to international break but they struggled against Real Sociedad on weekend. Catalans shouldn’t take Dutch champion lightly.
PSV Eindhoven also boast of two quick strikers whom Barcelona is also on scouting mission. The 23-year-old Mexican star Hirving Lozano is their one of the priority for next summer, and 19-year-old Argentine Maximiliano Romero is another good prospect.
Barcelona have always struggled to contain the match against a quick side who brings pace in the game and terrorize their defence. PSV Eindhoven have got that pace considering their average squad age is only 23 years and 4 months.
10 years ago, this little Dutch kid stayed at the same Hotel as THAT team from Barcelona and a few photos were taken.
In a couple of days they’re on the same pitch.

Hirving Lozano, Luuk De Jong, and Steven Bergwijn form a very formidable lineup upfront for PSV. They may not boast of the same respect in Europe as Barcelona’s Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, and Ousmane Dembele, but they are handy with the task at hand for PSV. PSV have scored 21 goals in their last five Eredivisie games compared to Barcelona 14 in their four La Liga outings.
Barcelona and PSV Eindhoven head to head record is also not poor for either side. Out of six previous matches, Barcelona have won only twice, played three draws, and lost one each scoring 12 goals. That proves PSV can’t be taken lightly.
Erick Gutierrez and Hirving Lozano’s partnership is creating a storm
Dutch champion have got a very good midfield in Jorrit Hendrix, Erick Gutierrez, Pablo Rosario, and Gaston Pereiro, all aged below 23. They can be really a problem for Barcelona’s 30 plus duo of Ivan Rakitic and Sergio Busquets.
However, they are not taking any risk in their centre-back pairing. They are trusting experience duo of Nick viergever and Daniel Schwaab in those positions with the add-ons of quick fullbacks in Angelino and Denzel Dumfries.
Ready for Barca! ?⚪
0-7 win vs ADO Den Haag today, next up: Barcelona in the Champions League on Tuesday!

Barcelona do have big names on their paper in Gerard Pique and Samuel Umtiti in centre-back pairings but we’ll have to see if they can match the pace of Hirving Lozano. Jordi Alba has got no replacement in left-back position and Ernesto Valverde is hardly going to trust Nelson Semedo for European games in right-back position, so Sergi Roberto place is fix in that position as well. We have no doubt that Barcelona midfield position is also fix in Sergio Busquets, Ivan Rakitic, and Philippe Coutinho. And, of course, you are not going to see any change in forward department. Messi, Suarez, and Dembele name is already stamped.
The only problem with Barcelona is their complacency while facing a weaker squad. If they will mistake to take Dutch champion lightly, they may suffer the consequences. They will come better prepared than other two (Tottenham hotspur and Inter Milan) at Camp Nou.
They are a champion side of their domestic league and will enter into the game with a successful new campaign, whereas Tottenham and Inter Milan is finding it difficult back at home. Their players are forming good partnerships. Erick Gutierrez and Hirving Lozano’s partnership is already creating a storm. Both Mexican root players have played together in the past as well and now creating a partnership at PSV.
Tottenham have suffered back to back defeats in Premier League losing against Watford and Liverpool. They also have off the field problems in players’ injury and stadium renovation. In the same way, Inter Milan have failed to live up to the expectation in their new campaign after bringing in reinforcements in their squad.
Out of their four Serie A outings, Inter Milan have won only one game. They lost 1-0 against Parma and Sassuolo and played 2-2 draw against Torino. It’s not a very good sign for their prospect in the UEFA Champions League.
So, Barcelona must not make the mistake of taking PSV Eindhoven lightly. They are their main competitor as compared to Tottenham Hotspur and Inter Milan. Ernesto Valverde must have done his homework and we hope Barcelona fans around the world don’t get disappointed.
