Barcelona unsung hero Arda Turan hat-trick earned 4-0 routine victory over Monchengladbach

Arda Turan, the unsung hero in Barcelona shirt finally earned his name at Camp Nou. He scored the hat-trick of the night, following an assist to Lionel Messi to open the scoring, to earn Barcelona 4-0 victory over Borussia Monchengladbach. Arda was quite a regular in Atletico Madrid, but since he has arrived at Barcelona, he has got featured in limited fixtures. Although, he has tried his best to lure Barcelona fans and coach Luis Enrique to find his place in playing XI, but he hasn’t been able to find his place in Barcelona first XI. Today he got the opportunity alongside other new signings which consists of Samuel Umtiti, Lucas Digne, Andre Gomes, Paco Alcacer, Denis Suarez and Jasper Cillissen, and he grabbed it with both hands.

Before the game, there was all hype around Lionel Messi to break Ronaldo’s 11 goal record of group stage, but somehow little magician failed to break the record, and only able to extend his goal tally to 10 from 5 group fixtures. The way he started the game scoring in 16th minute, it looks like Messi is in mood to do that. But, Monchengladbach goalkeeper made of couple of good saves to deny Barcelona no.10 efforts, because it was a day belonged to someone else. It was Messi, who needed a hat-trick to break Ronaldo’s group stage 11 goal reacord, but instead it was Arda Turan who earned a hat-trick.

Arda scores hat-trick, Messi misses to break Ronaldo’s record

This day was made for Turkish star Arda Turan, as he scored the rare hat-trick. When MSN is in the team, he is hardly going to get his chance, but thanks to Luis Enrique decision to play a completely different team in the fixture, knowing they have already qualified for top 16 winning group c, Turkish international got his chance to prove his worth, and he didn’t disappoint. With his hat-trick former Atletico man has reached to six goal marks this season, with lesser number of starts he is Barcelona third highest goal scorer this season.

He only needed a spell of 17 minutes to score hat-trick, as he scored in those minutes to rule the Camp Nou, and get an standing ovation as he departs to make room for debutant Marc Cardona. Arda got his first in 50th minute from a glancing header as Barcelona right wing Denis Suarez and Aleix Vidal combined well to launch a ball into the area, which Turkish internation put in softly. Only three minutes later Arda got his second, before completing his hat-trick in 67th minute with an easy finish from six yards.

Paco Alcacer poor run continues, as he still need to score his first goal for Barcelona since his arrival in the summer. He was denied by Gladbach keeper Yann Sommer in one-on-one situation. Gladbach could have suffered six or seven goal humiliation, if Sommer wouldn’t have given his brilliant performance. He denied Messi on two occasions, first he made a brilliant save with Messi fierce drive, than he denied Argentine with his finger-tips save from one of the diving header in second-half, which proved it’s not Messi day to break Ronaldo’s record.

Borussia Monchengladbach were totally outplayed, there was harmony in the passes, and it felt like old Barcelona. Andres Iniesta presence in the middle do make the difference. Barcelona has played their best football in last 120 minutes of the game. Thirty minutes against Real Madrid in El Clasico after Iniesta arrival on the pitch, and 90 minutes of today. It’s Barcelona first victory after four matches, and it will taste like more than a victory despite the lesser importance of the game. Barcelona needed to get their confidence back after a loss, and three draws, which they are not used to, and this result really brought up something positive for the ramshackle Barcelona squad.
