Thiago Alcantara is enjoying his role at Bayern Munich since his departure from Barcelona in 2013, but Camp Nou return still gives him goose bumps. Bavarian midfielder continues to link with his former club and he had his say on the matter recently when he was asked about home return.
“Barcelona will always be my home. Not because I love the club, but also the city. I’ll always love them. I’m very happy with Bayern, but in football a lot changes fast – and anything can happen,” Thiago told Spanish journalist Francesc Garriga as Sport Bild reports.
Thiago spent eight years of his life at FC Barcelona before finally moving to Bayern Munich in 2013 for the transfer price of €25 million. Pep Guardiola, Barcelona former head coach insisted to bring Thiago to Allianz Arena as he took Bayern’s job after four successful years with the Blaugranas.
Thiago moved to Bayern as he found out, he’ll have limited playing time in Barcelona playing XI. He was the perfect replacement for ageing Xavi, but the arrival of Cesc Fabregas hurted his motive to stay at Camp Nou and Guardiola pursued him to join the German giants.
Now after five successive seasons, Thiago is open to move back to Barcelona. Blaugranas midfield is a concern and a home grown player who has gained experience playing for one of Wolrd’s best will fit in their bill.
