Lothar Matthaus criticized Thiago Alcantara and advises Bayern Munich to sale the player
Thiago Alcantara has been the key member of Bayern Munich team since he arrived at Bayern. The Spaniard left his beloved Barcelona to join the Bavarians in 2013 after former Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola joined the German champions. Now five seasons later winning almost everything in the Bavarian outfit, Thiago has faced criticism. German legend Lothar Matthaus criticized the player in an interview with Sport Bild saying he is not a big match player.

Matthaus said, “Thiago hasn’t made the difference in the big games so far. I actually like him, but he is a shadow of his former self. Thiago has disappointed me in recent weeks. I don’t know where he is heading with his head, but with these achievements, he is not a player for Bayern Munich. If there is an appropriate offer, Bayern must think about it.”
Thiago hasn’t done justice with his performances in Bayern two-leg games against Real Madrid in Uefa Champions League semifinals. He also didn’t have a great run against Eintracht Frankfurt in DFB Pokal final and Bayern lost the game 3-1.
Spaniard also reacted very badly when he was substituted by Corentin Tolisso in DFB Pokal final against Frankfurt. it also added to his criticism. When you are not going through a good phase of life, you should avoid these situations.
It raises concern over his future in the Bavarian outfit. Bayern Munich will have a new coach in Niko Kovac next season and he’ll have his plans. Bayern midfield slot already boasts of competition with Thomas Muller, James Rodriguez, Thiago Alcantara, and new arrival Leon Goretzka vying for the same place. And if Kovac adds some more players in the summer transfer window, Thiago may be considered for selling.
