Fixtures which were delight to watch on weekend
It was a “derbies weekend” and there was some quality football on display, whether it’s Premier League, LaLiga, Serie A, or Bundesliga. In each of these top European league there were fixtures which were delight to watch. There were ManU vs Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund vs. Bayern Munich, Madrid derby and Milan derby for all the excitement, but there were other fixtures as well, which were treat to watch.
Bayer Leverkusen vs RB Leipzig
It was first weekend treat and it didn’t disappoint. RB Leipzig who was sitting on joint top of Bundesliga with 24 points, needed a win on away trip to Leverkusen to go ahead of German giant Bayern Muncih. They did it in style defeating Leverkusen 3-2 at their own turf to go on top, whereas Bayern suffered a 1-0 defeat by Dortmund at signal Iduna Park.
Deportivo La Coruna vs Sevilla
Sevilla were trailing 1-2 till 86th minute of the game, and what a dramatic turn of event takes place. Sevilla won it 3-2 at the end of match with Vitolo’s late strike and Mercado last gasp tap in. Babel and Andone gave 2-0 lead to Deportivo, but N’Zonzi made it 1-2 for visitors before half-time. But, it was Vitolo’s 86th minute strike which brought Sevilla back into the game, and Mercado goal from near post wins the match for visitors. Although, referee was the culprit not to award penalty to Deportivo when Mercado heavy push brought Andone down late in the game, before sevilla strucks both goals to take the game away.
Manchester United vs Arsenal
It seems to be a dull match in the beginning, but Juan Mata change the dynamics of the game. His 67th minute goal celebration seems like a winning celebration, but there was a twist in the tale. Premier League substitute hero Olivier Giroud snatched an equalizing header in 89th minute to stun Manchester United supporters at Old Trafford, the Theater of Dreams.
Crystal Palace vs Manchester city
If you are a Yaya Toure fan, you should watch this fixture again, if you find recording somewhere. The exile City midfielder got his place back in City side, as he said sorry in behalf of his agent to Guardiola. And, what a comeback it was, Toure scored both goals in City crucial away 2-1 win against Crystal Palace.
Barcelona vs Malaga
There wasn’t any goal produced and the reason was obvious, Messi & Suarez – both were missing from Barcelona lineup. But, there was a good performance from a Messi less Barcelona team, and Neymar grabbed the centre of attraction displaying some Samba skills. His skills were a treat to watch in Saturday’s fixture even though Catalans loses points.
Tottenham Hotspur vs West Ham United
You don’t get to watch too many mesmerizing fixture in the same weekend, but from a weekend full of derbies you can expect that. West Ham were on edge of winning this London derby, but Harry Kane not only rescued his side from losing, he wins the match at death for Tottenham. Heung-min Son who had put the scoring boots in absence of Kane, has turned his role as assister now. He assisted Kane in scoring 89th minute equalizer as well as he earned the 91st minute penalty which Kane converted to turn the match into Tottenham favour.
Atletico Madrid vs Real Madrid
It lacked Madrid derby class, but if you are a Ronaldo fan, you must be delighted watching it. Ronaldo scores his 39th hat-trick for Real Madrid to give Los Blancos 3-0 victory over Los Colchoneros. Atletico didn’t looked sharp throughout the 90 minutes, their best only lasted for 20 minutes in second-half, and Torres & Gabi replacement didn’t bring the results. Savic foul on Ronaldo kills the game as Portuguese star scored from the spot, and tapped in an easy goal from Bale brilliant assisted cross.
Atlanta vs Roma
Franck Kessie scored the 90th minute penalty to give Atlanta a crucial victory over second place Roma. Serie A may not witness a different winner this season as well, but Atlanta victory over Roma ensured the table at top four will look different this time.
AC Milan vs Inter Milan
The Milan derby probably displayed the best football of the weekend to end the weekend on high. Milan derby ended 2-2, thanks to Croatian Ivan Perisic stoppage-time strike. Milan were looking to win the battle with the help of Suso brace, but Perisic ruined their overwhelmed 90 minutes of display with late strike. Before that Candreva also scored the screamer for Internazionale to bring them on level, but Suso restored the lead back for Milan. But, it was Inter who had the last laugh from Perisic late equalizer.
