Bayern Munich can win Bundesliga title for the sixth consecutive time with a Der Klassiker victory on Saturday. Their title celebration was ruined by RB Leipzig’s 2-1 victory over them on matchday 27. Now, it’s all on Borussia Dortmund to delay their celebration.
Der Klassiker victory will hand Bayern their 27th Bundesliga title if Schalke loses against Freiburg at home. It will leave Bundesliga with no joy for the remaining matchdays as the title will be already decided. That’s where Borussia Dortmund’s role becomes important for the German league.
Dortmund is Bayern’s most competitive rival. They need to produce something superficial to delay Bayern’s celebration of the league championship. However, it looks highly unlikely with Dortmund’s injury troubles.

BVB will be without star players Marco Reus, Shinji Kagawa, Omer Toprak and Sebastian Rode. It left them with little room to be flexible against the Bavarians. The Black & Yellow giants will have to cope with Bundesliga leaders with their limited squad.
The onus will be on Chelsea loanee Mitchy Batshuayi, and the World Cup winning duo Mario Gotze and Andre Schurrle. Batshuayi is firing from all cylinders scoring six goals in his last seven appearances. Gotze and Schurrle still need to pick up their games but they have improved in recent games.
The young brigades of Christian Pulisic, Julian Weigl, and Mahmoud Dahoud will also play a crucial role in the middle of the park. However, the game will be won on the wings. Lukasz Piszczek and Marcel Schmelzer will have a tough job to contain the likes of Frank Ribery, Arjen Robben, and James Rodriguez. They’ll also have to make sure they can run forward to lead the team in attack.
It’s never easy to defend and attack at the same time when you play against someone like Bayern. They possess multiple threat for their rivals and it’s difficult to contain them but Borussia Dortmund has got no option. They need to delay Bayern’s 6th consecutive Bundesliga celebration. BVB simply cannot afford to watch them celebrate their Bundesliga title in front of them. They have never done it before and Dortmund need to keep their record straight. It will also keep the Bundesliga alive for the next matchday.
