Borussia Dortmund put on a rampage show to become Bundesliga leader

It’s not always easy for a team to make a comeback after going 2-0 down in the first-half. Borussia Dortmund showed a brave face as they tackled Bayer Leverkusen in the latter half of the game. The Black & Yellow put on a rampage show to become Bundesliga leader.

Bayern Munich played a 1-1 draw in midweek against Augsburg and Dortmund registered a thumping 7-0 victory over Numberg. It close the gap between two of the Bundesliga giants to two points and Bavarians defeat against Hertha BSC last night gave Dortmund an opportunity to go on top. They didn’t want that opportunity to slip by and they motivated himself to make a remarkable comeback against Leverkusen.

Leverkusen had an early lead as Mitchell Weiser met Lucas Alario’s cross to rifle past into the bottom corner of the net. The home team had the much needed lead, but it didn’t mean visitors didn’t have their chances.

Christian Pulisic forced Lucas Hradecky to make a save and in quick succession Marco Reus also tested him with his free-kick. But once again, it was Bayer Leverkusen who got the chance to double their lead. Jonathan Tah doubled Leverkusen lead in 39th minute from Julian Brandt corner adding more pain to Dortmund’s vision to go on top of the table.

Bayer Leverkusen were little unlucky to not make it 3-0 or 4-0 in initial minutes of the second-half as Julian Brandt was denied by Roman Burki’s brilliant attempted save to tip over the bar and Kevin Volland hit the post from his long range effort.

A drastic change of event took place after that for visiting team. BVB in-form striker Jacob Bruun Larsen pounced on a loose ball after Hradecky failed to parried away Marco Reus’ effort. Four minutes later, Reus also found himself on the scoresheet after good work from English teenager Jadon Sancho.

It was already 2-2, but Dortmund made a brave substitution deploying Paco Alcacer to prove lucky for them. Once again, Barcelona loanee proved his potential firing double in quick succession. It earned Borussia Dortmund a remarkable victory as they put on a rampage second-half show. Now, they are Bundesliga leader and only unbeaten team in the league with their 14 points from 6 games.
